Looking for a ServiceM8 alternative?

Before anything else

ServiceM8 is established software with native iPhone and Android apps and a free plan for 1 person. If those matter most, it may suit you better. figrd is A$39 a month for unlimited users and up to 1,000 jobs, and it works out your real hourly rate as you build each quote.

How ServiceM8 prices its plans

ServiceM8 prices its plans by the number of jobs you create each month. Each new job card uses 1 job credit. The paid plans include 50, 150, 500 or 1,500 jobs a month, all with unlimited users. The Free plan is for 1 person and 30 jobs.

figrd prices by plan. Core includes 1,000 jobs a month and Pro includes 3,500, both with unlimited users. Here is the lowest published plan for each range of monthly jobs:

With more than 1 person, ServiceM8's lowest plan is Starter. Over 1,500 jobs, ServiceM8 adds 20c a job and figrd Pro covers up to 3,500.

ServiceM8 costs less up to 50 jobs a month. From 51 jobs a month, figrd costs less than the ServiceM8 plan covering the same number of jobs.

Where the hourly rate check sits

ServiceM8 lists Job Costing on Premium (A$149 a month) and above. Its pricing page describes it as a gauge of how profitable a job will be while quoting, then how much you made after the job.

figrd includes its check on Core and Pro. At setup you enter what the business costs to run for a year and how many hours you can bill. As you build a quote, the quote builder shows the hourly rate your price works out to, next to the rate the business needs. Your customer never sees either figure.

After the job, figrd compares the costs in the quote with the costs recorded on the job.

Two other differences

  • Safety forms in every plan. figrd includes SWMS and JSA forms on Core and Pro, filled in and signed on the phone and emailed as branded PDFs. ServiceM8 sells pre-made forms in its Form Store on every plan, and building your own forms needs Growing (A$79 a month) or above.
  • Work priced by someone else. When a builder or another business sets the amount, you can check it against your costs before you accept the work. figrd then reports profit and payment speed by who paid.
